Utilizing the explosive welding process, HEMI can join a wide variety of dissimilar metals with a metallurgical bond. Our expertise allows us to bond most metals, either directly or utilizing interlayers. Because explosive welding is a cold-weld process, the metals bond without losing their desired properties.

High Energy Metals provides a variety of Bond Strap components per MIL-DTL-24749A and the newer MIL-DTL-24749B . These components are primarily for the electrical grounding of structures in an aluminum/steel bimetallic situation. Explosion bonded aluminum to stainless steel bosses, standard CRES bosses, stainless steel wire rope grounding cables with stainless steel lug ends, and copper straps are available.
